It has been a while since our last post.  Things have changed quite a bit in the World of Warcraft and in this blogger wannabee’s life.  Our raiding team successfully killed the Litch King, and on September 30^th as originally planned no less.

We had to change things up a bit in order to get the kill.  Our 25-man crew had dwindled to a reliable 20 or so, and with the 5 new-ish folks every week, we were really struggling to progress on the LK.  So we canned the 25-man effort and instead went for the 10-man kill.  After a few nights of practice we were victorious.  It was pretty epic and really gave me a sense of great accomplishment.

Looking back on this past year with Wrath of the Litch King I can come up with some awesome memories and a whole ton of fun experiences, which is why I play video games of course.  This was my first time living the “end-game” and being a legit (debatable) raider.  Progressing through the end-game is an interesting way to spend one’s video game time.  The pro is that one gets to work on challenging content with a group of friends (hopefully), and the con is that the game become very repeatable and often frustrating.  It is this trade that the end-game raider has to balance in order to find enjoyment from the game after an extended period of time.

So what is next?  Well, for me it’s time to take a break from WOW.  When the pre-cata patch dropped two weeks ago and the talents, spells, etc… were completely re-worked, I found myself really struggling with the motivation to log in to re-learn how to play the game.  So I decided that if I am not excited about playing, I shouldn’t play.

So this blogger is currently spending his video game time refreshing those once vaunted First Person Shooter skills in Halo: Reach.  I’ll catch you after my WOW-break, but in the mean time get those last-minute WotLK achievements and enjoy Cataclysm!

Great job Punch and Pie !  We got through Sindragosa and had our first 11/12 night!  Good times had by all.  After the 11^th boss went down, several of us newbs (about 12 of us) stayed around to pull the Litch King just to see what it was like.  This was my first pull, and because I’m such a huge dork I really enjoyed the fail and the sentiment behind the whole thing.  This was my first time seeing an Expansion Boss!

We are trending nicely to the predictions below, as you can see by the curve…now with Sindi data represented as well.  According to the trend, we should kill the Litch King on Thursday Oct 7^th, or Saturday Oct. 9^th.  It’ll be fun to see how close we are.  The Sindi data moved the LK prediction out by one week to what it was previously .  We should still get there before Cataclysm (hopefully)!!!shift1

Yes indeed, believe it or not, our 25-man raid team is still at it.  It’s been a slow progression for us, only playing once per week and dealing with Summer-itis…but we are still progressing none-the-less.  In this article I’ll describe the nature of our raid progression, and will make a prediction for when Punch and Pie will kill the Litch King.

This week, our Punch and Pie raiding crew busted through what seemed to be that proverbial glass ceiling of raid progression.  We’ve been at 8/12 (8 of the 12 bosses in Icecrown) for what seemed to be a very long time.  This week, we finally downed Blood Queen Lana’Thel and then 1-shot saved Valithrea Dreamwalker .  I’ll speak for myself, but am pretty sure everyone shares the sentiment when I say….WOOOTTT!!!! shift 1

It has been a while since we’ve made progress with our weekly 25-man Icecrown crew.  It’s been a combination of several things – Summer signups, unexpected cancellations, and of course a crappy tank named Caladin that keeps signing up every week.

But alas, this week we finally made some progress.  After clearing the lower spire, Rotface and Festergut in about 75 minutes, our raid found ourselves taking on Professor Putricide .
