Crossroads of Alt and Main
Swanny, the Dwarf Hunter, has been my main, and only, toon for over a year. I have loved playing a hunter and I have even started to appreciate all those hunter jokes people like to throw arround. I have enjoyed the pet dynamic and bringing death from afar. I have enjoyed digging into forums like Elitest Jerks for information on hunter shot rotations. I have loved playing with the gear planner that Female Dwarf provides. Plus, I have had the added fun of talking strategy with the other 69 hunters in our guild. Ok, there aren’t 69, but let’s just say there are enough. So, as our guild heads into Ice Crown, Swanny could actually be helpful. What does your WOW life consist of? For Swanny, a raider at heart who is currently on the shelf, a typical week looks like this.
- Complete VOA 10 and 25 – Cumm-on Hunter Tier 9 loots
- Complete Onyxia 10 and 25 – Cumm-on Reinforced Shadowstrike or Rifled Blastershot Launcher
- Do Heroic Dailies – as long as it’s not Occulus
- Do Cooking Daily
- Do Fishing Daily
- Work the AH and try to make some money to buy some more BOE items

Swanny
My dwarf buddy has two problems. Well at least two problems for this type of a forum.
1) He doesn’t get a chance to raid much
2) He has a burning desire to top the DPS Charts in the raids he can get in
So whats a brutha to do? Exactly what any Hunter can do. You see, he is not the lucky recipient of drops, or have the highest average gear score. He just knows how to search for the best items that he CAN get. Badge gear, Vailt of Archavon and 5 man gear, and BOE gear. Sure it’s expensive but what else you going to spend your gold on. Besides I’m sure the mats for the new Leatherworking items (Drums of the forgotten Kings, Drums of the wild) will sell at a nice mark up once patch 3.2.2 drops.
Anyhoo, lets get down to business shall we. I am going to go through Swanny’s gear piece by piece and let you know how you can get it.

About two years ago my fellow co-workers started talking about this game with shaman, elves, priests, and something they called a space goat. As any “normal” person would do, I made fun of them. Then in one brief moment of weakness I downloaded a trial version of WOW and started an account.
So it begins.
Swanny is a Dwarf Hunter. Due to real life limitations, my play time consists of shorter more frequent play sessions. Unfortunatly this is not the best way to gear up a toon. However, it is condusive to running dailies, playing the auction house, and PUGing short raids. This is how I do things. Swanny is almost entirely geared from BOE items, badge gear, and by running Vault of Archavon. It’s not always pretty, but you do what you can.
Remember, if you clean up after your pets you are more likely to get invited back.
