Guild Ambitions

Gathering my thoughts for this article reminded me of The Funniest Guild Application ever.  Check it out for a good laugh.

Guild Rankings are a funny thing.  Our guild, as previously discussed here on WOWGiggity is a real-life friends guild that came from humble beginnings.  We’ve been progressing through the 10-man scene nicely for the past year, and this week are planning to attempt our first 25-man run.  It’s exciting times for The Order of Copernicus.  However, we’ve never even considering attempting to become a top-rated guild.  But now that I think about it…there is something very tantalizing about the challenge.  The challenge of become the best guild on the realm, battlegroup, country, and of course the world.  It’s an extremely impressive accomplishment to those who have achieved such elite stature.  The OOC will never strive for such lofty ambitions, mainly because many of us cannot support the effort needed to accomplish such a feat.  But it is fun to watch every new content release and to see who does what first.  I also enjoy watching our realm to see who the top dogs are.

A guild that I like to keep track of on our Server (Silverhand US) is Unguilded.  I pay attention to Unguilded because a couple of my real-life friends have joined them.  The two players I mention are great players and wanted to test their skills with a legit raiding guild.  After proving they had the chops, the found their home with Unguilded.

An Embarrassment of Riches

The other day I was doing a random PuG in the Forge of Souls, and the Battered Hilt dropped.  We all rolled need, and I ended up being the winner (thus using my only good roll for the year).  The immediate question–what do I do with it? Read the rest of this entry »

Greetings to all, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce Tyrolen . He’s a level 80 Dranei Shaman that, for a long time, was the only max level shaman in the Order Of Copernicus.  When I first hit 70, this was a great advantage, as I was able to go to the guild raids of Karazhan once I had sufficiently geared myself to be able to drop totems and hit the heroism button.

Raid Progress: Saurfang is the Dead

Last week our 10-man charter successfully downed Deathbringer Saurfang and earned two achievements, I’ve Gone and Made a Mess and Storming the Citadel .  After that we were on to Festergut and got to take a look at him once.  We wiped in about 10 seconds…so that was interesting.  It was toward the end of the night so we decided to go for the weekly raid and take down Malygos.

Ah the taste of sweet revenge.  Before this week, I had only had 1 kill on Malygos.  Back when tier seven was the bees nees, we beat our head against Malygos over and over again…failing and failing.  It was so frustrating.  My least favorite encounter in the entire game.  Sure, it’s “cool” from a lore and environment perspective, but from a fun perspective it totally fails in my opinion.  The Drake mechanics were stupid and not fun.  Ah but I digress.

This week we took sweet revenge on Maly.  1-shotting him in the face.  What, no tail swipe?  Guess you should have thought that one through huh buddy.  Might want to visit your trainer cause I think you forgot to train that one.  Seriously, Dragon sans tail-swipe…what a big blue sissy.

Anyway, I don’t care for the Malygos fight so I was very glad we 1-shot it.

I’m usually a go to bed right after raid ends kind of guy…but this week raid finished 8 minutes early and I figured…hey, that’s almost enough time to do the random heroic dungeon.  Woot, two more quick frost emblems yes please.  So grab 4 guildies and que up for a fast heroic and…it ques us into Violet Hold.  VH is probably the longest dungeon right now for the overgeared players because it has a fixed time.  You can’t just blow through it.

Anyway, we finished VH as soon as it would let us…and that capped another fun night with the OOC.  This week, here’s to hoping to get Festergut down!
